Reading task

W.A.L.T upload our reading task to our blog and write about it.

Last week we had to make a marine life diagram, to do this we had to get a piece of paper and choose which part if the ocean you would like to do then we had to research about what marine life live there, after that we had to draw lots of marine life and then label all of it and to finish we had to colour it all in. We had to do this task in buddy's, my buddy was Caleb.

Here's our diagram below.

What did I enjoy?
I enjoyed drawing because it is one of my favourite things to do.

What could I improve on?
Next time to improve on this task I could of taken my time a bit while colouring in.

What was my least favourite part?
My least favourite part was colouring in because it took forever.

Have you ever made a diagram before?

Maitai Bay brochure

W.A.L.T upload our Maitai bay brochure.

Last week we had to make a Maitai Bay brochure about where is Maitai Bay, what is Maitai Bay, what recreational activity's you can do there, what marine life lives at Maitai Bay, what is a rahui, what does the rahui hope to achieve, why was the rahui put in place at Maitai Bay and and what has the rahui achieved so far. We had to do this in buddy's and my buddy was Enzo.
Here's our work below.

What did I enjoy?
I enjoyed choosing the fonts and colours because there were so much to choose from.
What I found challenging?
I found the picture hard to find because it didn't tell you what type of fish it was.

Have you ever made a brochure before?

Kiwi Can

W.A.L.T upload a post showing what we learnt in Kiwi Can today.

Today we had the second Kiwi Can lesson. Our focus for today was respect, the catch phrase today was ' we respect our school, we do it because we're cool'. We played snap, crackle and pop and so, ma, ca, lo. My favourite game was snap, crackle and pop. To play this game you have to get into a group of three, then you have to pick what word you want to be either Snap, crackle or pop, after that we had to sit a circle with your groups and the whole class standing up and if your word gets called out then you have to run around the circle, while the person is running the other two people have to hold each others legs and once that person runs around the circle then they have to go under the other two's legs and grab the object in the middle. To end Kiwi can we played a quick game of GKQ.

Here's some photos below.

How did I show respect today?
I think I showed respect by not saying ha ha when a person lost a game.

What did I enjoy?
I enjoyed playing Snap, crackle and pop because it was funny and fun.

What could I improve on next time?
Next time I could improve on sitting up nicely.

Do you have Kiwi Can?

pool session

Yesterday we had a class trip to the Te punawai- Ora pools to learn how to snorkel. Our class is participating in the Experiencing Marine Reserves Programme, where we learn about the marine environment and how it is affected by humans. First we learnt how to use our mask and snorkel by holding onto a boogie board, next we learnt how to use our flippers and mask without the board and last we learnt how to go under the water with our snorkels.

Here's some photo's below.

What did you learn?
I learnt to go under the water with my snorkel.

What did you enjoy?
I enjoyed going under the water because it was really warm and refreshing.

What is one goal you have to do withe your ability in the water?
Is to stick with my buddy.

Have you ever gone snorkelling?

Waitangi day.

I.A.L.T reflect o our class trip.

On Tuesday, we went to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. When we hopped off the 1.5 hour bus ride, we got taken to the learning centre where we had morning tea, after that we went for a walk to see the 5 waka's and the carving's around them. Later on in the afternoon we had a play around on scratch, making the sprites move and a scratch animation of your art. Our scratch animation had to show our audience what our art symbol for the art gallery meant to us.

Here's some photo's below.

My favourite part was going to look at all the waka's because they were so big and the carving were so detailed and amazing.

My least favourite part was the scratch because we make things out of scratch quite a lot. I didn't find I learnt as much as what I thought I may have.

Have you ever been to Waitangi before?
